The assignment was to share a photo of something old. Instead, I’m sharing an old photo. My lasting memory for Blogtember, as we all get ready to say adieu.
This. In this photo (click to enlarge) you’ll find a mini Kat and an even younger brother Mark. If you look closely you’ll first go, “oh this is the beach.” You’re smart readers, which I appreciate. Also, you’ll note my favorite towel, a baby mullet (not on moi) and some fantastic water socks on the two of us.
All of this encompasses my favorite memories as a child. Those spent with my family in Stone Harbor, N.J. Every summer, near the beginning, we would pack up our station wagon and take the 4-hour-ish drive to the island. It was the highlight of my year. Besides Christmas and my birthday of course. This is us walking back home from presumably a day spent on the sand, playing in the flats, where the tide had gone down and produced some fabulous tide pools, complete with baby fish I would try to capture (and release, duh). It was the best time. And one of the few memories I wish I could relive.
So Blogtember, we had our ups and downs. Between you and me, I’m glad we’re through. I am going out on a high note, though. A happy memory for this Monday and last day of September.
October is my favorite month. It’s my birthday month, and usually a month that boasts some great weather (crossing my fingers for a dip below 90 this time, please, Florida). Oh and Halloween. My former most-hated holiday (I was scared of everything as a child. More on that Wednesday.) is now one of my most fav. Maybe for the sheer fact I can wear skulls on my clothing/accessories and be less judged? Who’s to say.
