Let me just start off by saying I’m not the best runner. In fact, I’m slow, get injured periodically and about 40% of the time, I actually dread it. (Ok, maybe a little bit less). But running will always be a part of my life.
Early on, I only had to run for organized sports – field hockey and track and field. (It was nice there was no running in ballet, ha.) Those sports led to injuries, which forced running and I to take a break. Then during college, we reunited. And it’s been on and off ever since.
Running will always be a part of my life. And now that I live in a place where running outside all year is not insane, I really don’t mind it. I even signed up for my first race this year and actually loved it. A 5k called The Color Run-I’m sure you’ve heard of it. It was a blast. I tried to train for a half marathon but it wasn’t something my bod wanted me to do. Too much pain all the time led me to bow out, but 5k’s may be something I will continue on down the road. Check out a really fun 5k, Expedition Everest Challenge at Disney, which I completed with my partner-in-crime Joey. It was kinda awesome
I may never check off “run a half marathon/marathon/some other insane distance” off my bucket list but give me a 5k any day. It’s my happy place. On to the next one!
My usual running trail-a nice 2.5 mile loop beside my apt.
