I don’t know about you guys, but I love finding new and easy DIYs – especially when it’s something all natural and healthy for me. It was just the other day that Dawn told me she was spending all too much on a lavender pillow spray for her daughter to help her sleep, when I said, “I can just make it for you!”
Next thing you know, bottles were ordered (Amazon ones found here) and I went to town. I already had all the ingredients after all. Lavender essential oil spray is now sitting in multiple rooms of my apartment and my bed hasn’t felt more luxurious. Dare I say it, it helps me sleep even better. I mean, Laur gets it. Her fam swears by it.
Here’s the lineup.
All you need is:
Lavender essential oil (I am a Doterra girl)
Jar for mixing
Blue glass spray bottles
Why blue glass? Blue glass bottles are key so you don’t let light in, which can be harmful for the oils by breaking them down faster. I bought these 4oz bottles (pack of 6) on Amazon for about $10. Not too shabby. I actually bought another six pack, but in the 2oz size, after I realized I wanted some for travel!
Note: this recipe is for one 4oz bottle, feel free to change depending on how much you’re making.
Mix 10 drops of lavender oil with 2 tbsp of witch hazel in a secure glass jar (not pictured). This helps the oil mix well (as oil doesn’t mix with water). After shaking the glass for 20-30 seconds, add in 3oz of water. Shake again.
Simply use your funnel and pour the mixture into the bottle. And done! Easy peasy right? I think I may make a few more sprays, like frankincense or lemon. Options are endless. What kind of scent spray would you enjoy?
