My first yoga class was not pretty. I had always wanted to try it and after a friend Merav convinced me she found what looked like a good spot here in Orlando, we stepped out of our sandals and onto our mats. Keep in mind, she is like a yoga master compared to me. Luckily, she gave me some tips before we got there.
One class was all it took. I was hooked. (Even if i looked like a hot mess during and afterwards.) We walked out of there in a haze of exhausted muscles and a feeling that we dubbed “yoga drunk.” Although intimidated by the fast-paced vinyasa/ashtanga yoga, I had great teachers who had me coming back for more.* Over the next few years, I’ve gone from a regular class-goer to doing more at-home yoga instead. Any way I do it, I feel a sense of peace, relaxation and calm afterwards. I call it my therapy. Even my religion.
So any of you doubters out there-I highly recommend just one class. It’s not for everyone. But it may be for you. Namaste.
