Hey heyyyy, my little cupcakes. It’s Monday yet again – but it’s also the start of birthday week! So exciting. It snuck up on me a little. Just the other day I realized my birthday is indeed this coming weekend. Time flies when you’re having fun? Or getting older? Today, I thought I’d switch it up a little and talk about what I’m looking forward to in the year of 35.
Turning 35 is weird to me, let’s be honest. I guess I’m still getting used to the whole getting older thing. One minute you’re 21 and can drink all night and feel fine, and the next thing you know, you’re out all night on a Saturday and cannot put on actual pants until 48 hour later. Maybe that happened this weekend. I admit nothing.
In this new year, I’m looking forward to…
…enjoying every moment. As cliché as it sounds, I’m trying to slow down more often. Take time for myself. Kinda like my Siesta Key weekend.
…paint more. This year was filled with way more art and it makes my heart happy. I must continue.
…traveling. I didn’t do that much of it in the year of 34 so I think it’s high time I make up for it this trip around the sun.
…writing. It’s so rewarding, and it’s something that requires practice. Time to add it to my list.
…letting go. As much as I try, I need to stop trying to force life to go a certain direction. By now, I’ve realized I can’t control everything. And it’s not in my best interests to try.
…finding new hidden gems in my town. I started an Orlando category on this blog and I’m definitely excited to watch that grow. Making connections in my beautiful city only brings me joy, and I love sharing fun things with you guys.
…visiting more museums. I have an annual pass for the Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) and need to put a dent in it. It’s walkable from my home (when it’s not hot as hell out) and is the perfect rainy day activity.
…reading. Another hobby I kinda got back into this year. I just need to take more time to do it, because after I finish a book (over the course of months), I am happy. If only there were more hours in the day.
…taking care of my health. I need to get back on the healthy eating train stat. I actually started up again last week and have a mini goal by the end of the year which I think is realistic. It’s time. No more excuses.
…continuing to smile. I had a wonderful year of 34 and I feel like this one will be even better. Amidst all the chaos in the world, I have a beautiful life, loving friends and family, and I couldn’t be more fortunate. Thirty-five, I’m ready for you.
^^ sorry for the crazy candid, Elizabeth. But this picture just makes me laugh. We have a ball together!
