Remember when I quasi-disappeared on you last month? I don’t feel the need to do that anymore. Which is a big, fat ‘yay’ if you ask me.
Last week, as the comments were coming through on my post on kindness, it got me thinking. Oh my, do some of your comments (ok, all of them) just make my day. Which made me think, ‘ok this is why I’m here.’
Just as I need to give myself grace, I need to remind myself why I’m here in this little blog world that often feels so small, but can also feel oh-so-big. We all get up in the morning (or later) to tackle that dreaded alarm and start our day. We hop into our careers because they pay the bills and get into this routine that sometimes looks blurry and doesn’t always feel rewarding. Similar to those jobs which pay for our lives, we have this blog world – many of you have blogs as well. What brings us back? Why do we continue?
For me, it’s the connections first and foremost. Those comments and stories you share – oh! Nothing compares.
I’m also here for my blog friends who have turned into IRL friends. Pamela! Oh what would I do without you? And Laur, you started it all (although we’ve been real life friends for way longer). Lindsay, Alissa, Jess, Emily, Kate, Ashley, Nikki, the list goes on!
Speaking of friends…my girl Allison wrote a great post on internet friends last week. While I haven’t met her IRL, I can honestly say we’ll have a kickass time once we eventually meet. It’s these moments, guys.
Writing. Yet another reason for this little space. I mean, aren’t we all writers in some form or fashion? I love spilling words onto my page or screen – whatever medium that speaks to me at the moment.
And if blogs aren’t little memory makers as well. Looking at a snapshot of all the good and bad in my life – I wouldn’t have it any other way. I try to be as real as I can with you guys in hopes that authenticity wins over any sunset or outfit photo I could superficially place here. But damn, if I won’t share yet another selfie. It’s fine.
So tell me…what brings you back? What drives you to continue blogging? And what makes it all worth it?
