People that have never met her feel like they know her. I may talk about her in everyday conversations. And maybe I pretend like we are sisters separated at birth (I’m still trying to get adopted into her family). I’m talking about my BFF Laurie.
We talk at least once a day (let’s be real, it’s more like 50) because even though we’re roughly 1,000 miles apart-she’s the one who knows be best. Since 2002, we’ve been kinda inseparable. And even funnier, before we met, we both had the same stereotypical assumptions about each other – man, she’s pretty, she must be a bee (you’ll pick up my slang terms eventually). Boy were we ever wrong. Once we got to talking, we realized how much we had in common-especially a love for being snarky (and many other lovely qualities I might add). We quickly dubbed ourselves the critics.
I’ll spare you the details of the next few years but it goes without saying we did everything together, especially as we were in the same major in a small school. We went on a cruise for spring break, memorized all the same movie quotes, explore NYC on the reg, introduced her to her amazing hubby, and when I moved away-we made sure to see each other at least 2-3 times a year. Not much, but we get by. Technology in society. FaceTime, emails, unlimited texts (a must) and now blogging! She got me into this so you can blame her for that one.
I could talk on and on about my beautiful, smart and amazing momma of a best friend. Although we’re now at different phases in our lives-her as a very cool mom of two (I am continuously amazed by her) and me traveling and exploring my life in Florida/Colorado with my bf-we are still the same ol critics.
And you should check out her blog. It’s kinda awesome. Now for a crazy amount of photos – some embarrassing some not. You’re welcome. First…a flashback…
One of Laur’s first trips to O-town (or maybe her first?)
Me and Laur in NYC. Circa 2012
One of many visits to Florida which I love. Too bad I look like a drowned rat from the rain.
Off to explore Chicago for the weekend with my man. I expect many culinary expeditions to be had. Stay tuned!
