I’m definitely one of the lucky ones. After the storm, Floridians are looking back on Hurricane Irma, which has left many without homes, power, and all of their belongings. The sunshine state took a beating, and I’m glad to say that I’m safe and sound. Most of my friends still don’t have power or internet, and if that is the worst of it, then that’s ok with me.
I’ll definitely be back to the blogging world next week. Apologies for my absence lately. But, the last thing on my mind was blogging, let’s be real. By mid-last week, I ended up turning into an amateur weather person, monitoring every inch of the storm, searching for supplies, and ensuring I had a plan to ride it out. Hurricane prep is exhausting to the mind and wallet.
I was lucky enough to have many friends offer their homes to do the old game of “hunkering down” pre-storm. Many thanks to Dawn for the hospitality and laughs while we waited. Seriously so grateful. We ate and drank and ate some more. Oy. Exhibit A:
And then once the storm passed (which was a scary night for sure), the cleanup began.
I came back to my apartment on Tuesday, to no power and a fridge purge. If a clean fridge was the worst of it, I can count myself as one of the lucky ones. Thankfully, power was restored later in the day and life started to get back to normal.
Catch you guys next week! Thanks again for all the calls/texts/love the past few days.
