Believe it or not, I’m totally a nature girl. I love being outside and grew up in the woods (a state park, actually). Some of my favorite activities included dragging my kayak into the lake and camping in my backyard. So when I heard that an REI was coming to Orlando, it’s safe to say I was ecstatic.
I had a store relatively close by back home, but now I can say that I have one less than a few miles away. Score! It’s the second store to come to Florida, with the other being in Jacksonville. Florida is moving on up (and giving me more reasons to want to stay).
In case you’re not familiar, REI stands for Recreational Equipment Inc. They say, “At REI, we believe that a life outdoors is a life well lived. We’ve been sharing our passion for the outdoors since 1938.” The co-op is really the best part of the store. For $20, you can join the co-op and that fee gets you in for life. They give back 70% of profits and organize community activities that help get people outside. Oh and you get access to great deals and things like the pre-grand opening of a new store ;) Talk about perks.
Since I’m a co-op member, I was invited to check out the store last Thursday along with other members. I was good and only spent a few dollars on some goods but I look forward to going back and spending all my money on some outdoor gear.
So what are you waiting for? Get outside!
And on that note, I’m off to the Gulf Shores for the weekend. I’ll be back to the blog in about a week! You can find all my shenanigans on insta and snap: cheshirekat1022. Believe me, you won’t want to miss unfiltered Kerri. Ha!
