Did you know I have eggs and pour-over coffee every morning? Without fail, unless traveling – this is my routine. I generally wake up around the same time, go through the motions, grab my bag, and head out the door to my Monday through Friday career. On evenings and weekends, I traditionally go to the same places, eat the same things, see the same people, and live the same life.
This is my schtick; my daily ritual. And 2017 is my year to get out of my comfort zone.
Now maybe I’m being a little hard on myself, really. I’m sure you notice that on weekends, I’m rarely doing the same thing. From adventures with Pamela to concerts and laughs with Dawn – you usually see me all over the map when it comes to activities. And that’s only listing two of my beautiful friends!
So in this new year, I want to do more. Explore my town, like I did with my brother when he was here in December. I also want to do a bit more traveling. For instance, I may not attend all the bourbon things this year – hell, maybe I’ll finally get back across the pond like I’ve been saying for so long. I need to paint…and I mean need. I desperately want to try new things. Example A: I went to a motocross race this weekend – when’s the last time I’ve done that? Read: never. And you know what? I had a blast! So much opportunity awaits, I can’t wait to grab it.
While we’re all riding on the positivity train of the 2017 fresh start, I’m still focusing on my word of the year – peace. It ties into this mantra of getting out of my comfort zone. I plan on enjoying my moments – wherever I find them, filling my little world with peace wherever it takes me.
And in case you didn’t notice, I got out of my routine already today by not posting about my weekend. 2017, you saucy minx, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me next.
