Yard and yarn-related activities are not something you’d think of when you think of moi. But, when Laurie showed me these amazing weaving hangings, I thought – I can do this! And well, she was right.
Even if I am super slow when it comes to the cutting of said yard. Details. First, the supplies. A little wood dowel rod. Yarn – any colors. and some twine. Scissors and wine, of course too. Because duh.
We used a little tape to hold the dowel on the table after we cut all the string. Ten little sets each. You’ll need a lot. In each color section you see above is about ten strands.
Then just grab each end and pull the ends through the loop. Voila! Rinse and repeat. Then ask your friend’s husband to make a straw long enough so you can stand while you cut. Because at this point, it’s not that even. I cut this one to be longer on the edges as you see. Very spicy.
Then ask said friend’s son to go foraging for a stick for a totally separate project (legit needed one). I had to share this photo. No he didn’t cut the branch down – his dad did. But how cute is that face?
Now go make yourself a weaving. Everybody’s doing it. Oh the weather outside is weather.
