Bourbon, bashes and boozy memories await me in Kentucky because this girl is going to the first-ever Kentucky Bourbon Affair. Oh yeah. What is this fine event?
They say, Kentucky has long held a love affair with Bourbon – a notorious passion unlike any other state or spirit in America. Now, the Commonwealth’s most treasured distilleries are opening their hearts and doors for an intimate, rare celebration – the Kentucky Bourbon Affair. For four days, an elite group of attendees will have the opportunity to mix with world-famous Master Distillers and experience our timeless craft like never before.
Blend your own small batch Bourbon… Train your palate with culinary pairings from award-winning chefs… Hang in your favorite distiller’s man cave… tour distilleries never before opened to the public…sample from the very first barrels of hand-crafted brands…hear family histories, and a few tall tales, from the Bourbon barons themselves…and relish a few eccentric surprises that might require you to sign a waiver, but you’ll cherish the memories for a lifetime.*
So, I think that about sums it up – this will be a fun few days in my old Kentucky home and I promise to bring back lots of photos and blog posts for your viewing pleasure next week.
I’ll be visiting Bulleit on Thursday, Jim Beam on Friday and finishing my tour with Wild Turkey on Saturday. Jealous much? You should be. Side note: click on the links to see details on what I’m doing at each spot. An infamous man cave on one day and skeet shooting and rolling barrels on the next? Can. not. wait.
Now, I’m a little too cheap to be going to the opening and closing events (also going by myself isn’t as fun for a party) but whatever – visiting three distilleries is damn cool enough if you ask me. And you didn’t. But I’m telling you.
So I apologize in advance if I’m a little missing in action this week. I’ll probably come back Friday for some current obsessions because I’m not one to break tradition. Don’t miss me too much.
