There’s nothing quite like being on the water. Growing up on a lake has turned me into a water girl, which is why I find myself drawn to all oceans, lakes, and rivers whenever I get the chance. There’s nothing quite like the serenity from an easy paddle on the water.
As you read on Monday, my girlfriends and I got together for a weekend of paddleboarding and kayaking hosted by LayZboards. Originally, it was supposed to be a huge event on the island (Beerpalooza), but it quickly turned into a small detour of plans due to a potential storm (which ended up being nothing whatsoever). We didn’t care – we just wanted to paddle the day away ;)
To say that LayZboards goes over the top is an understatement. From start to finish, Emily (the owner) and her team were available for whatever we needed. We met at the dock in New Smyrna Beach for this particular event, where we launched about a mile from Disappearing Island. [For those not in the know, Disappearing Island is just that – an island that fills up with boaters and paddlers who join for fun, music, and adult beverages of course – wink wink]
With some of us in kayaks and most on boards, we made it through this cute inlet to the island where we parked for the day. Coolers full of drinks and games galore = happiness all around. We parked in the water for most of the day while we laughed, played beer pong on the back of a paddleboard, and then tried our hand at some corn hole.
After a nice paddle home, we packed up the trailer and made our way to our car. A big thank you to LayZboards for an amazing day! Til next time!
