Do you have those moments where you’re about to do something and just say, “well, maybe not” – that was me before I went to the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida.
Weird, right? Well I had just had a weekend alone and was getting the itch to go back home to Orlando. I was making my drive to this museum – one highly recommended by a friend – and decided, oh well it’s raining, I’ll just go. Plus I had found that it was free on Mondays (tip!) so I really had no excuse.
I parked, found the entrance, was greeted by some lovely people, and walked slowly to the main grounds. Now before I get started, you may say to yourself – is this the same Ringling as the circus? Well, yes. Yes it is. While there is also a circus museum there, there is this main house, which contains multiple galleries within 21 different rooms. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking. Think of this building as a legacy to John Ringling and his love of art. You can read more about the history here.
Next thing you know, I’m making my way outside of this U-shaped building. Look at the grounds!
Sorry not sorry for the insane amount of photos here. I have to let the pictures do the talking. Walking in when they opened allowed me to have the place to myself for a few moments and I’ll say it was well worth it.
I can’t wait to return!
